He has published more than 65 articles and book chapters covering a wide variety of topics ranging from psychology and psychiatry to human development.

In addition to his prolific career as a researcher, school psychologist, and academic professional, he serves as a consultant for numerous researchers, schools, organizations, and universities, helping leaders understand what they need to do to put students and employees in the best position possible to be optimally engaged and successful. He also spends his free time giving back to the communities that have supported him throughout the course of his career.

Dr. John Froiland and the BEAR Model

One of the numerous marks that Dr. John Froiland has left on the field is the advent of the BEAR model. This is a model that focuses on the importance of optimal parent involvement during early childhood and high school education. Sadly, there are a lot of parents who are not involved in the education of their children, and this can make it hard for them to succeed in a competitive environment. Research has shown that children do better in school when their parents are involved in their education, and the BEAR model provides a framework to make that happen.

In addition, he has published a wide variety of articles that focus on a comprehensive positive psychology intervention for college students and other adults. The goal is to give everyone the tools they need to be successful, which means putting them in a supportive environment. Many of the changes that Dr. John Froiland has encouraged in the field have already taken place, showing the impact that he has left on the field of psychology as a whole.

Dr. John Froiland Partners with Other Universities To Encourage Motivation and Engagement

In addition, Dr. John Froiland understands the importance of working as a part of a team to accomplish research goals. He has spent time partnering with the University of Notre Dame (ND), University of Illinois-Champaign, and the University of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley) to explore various reasons for student engagement and motivation. When students have intrinsic motivation to pursue academic betterment, they are more likely to get more out of their education. Dr. John Froiland has explored numerous projects that take a look at why some students are more motivated than others and what needs to be done to encourage more students to take an interest in their education.

His work has given universities and schools a framework within which to work as they strive to encourage their students to take an active interest in the educational opportunities offered at their respective schools.

Dr. John Froiland Has Presented His Work All Over the World

While Dr. John Mark Froiland has partnered with a wide variety of universities across the United States, he has also been invited to present his research all over the world. He has presented his work in Tokyo, Copenhagen, Switzerland, Toronto, Calgary, Holland, Edmonton, Finland, and Italy. His work has had a global impact on the field of psychology, and some of the top universities in the world have taken an interest in his work, looking to explore how it might apply to their students. This serves as a testament to the impact his research has had on the field. Via USAID, he has also consulted with researchers and academic leaders in Tanzania and Zanzibar in order to promote better social emotional learning outcomes throughout their countries.

Dr. John Froiland Also Works With Students Personally

In addition to his success as a professor and researcher, Dr. John Mark Froiland also spends his time working with students personally, looking for ways to place them in the best possible position to take full advantage of their education. He has served as a school psychologist and consultant, helping children and adolescents address anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and numerous other behavioral concerns. Mental health issues among children are a major problem, and not enough kids have the resources they need to treat this issue appropriately. Dr. Froiland works with these students to customize treatment plans to meet their needs, helping them boost their school attendance, get more out of their academic skills, and lead happy lives. Dr. Froiland tries to find ways to give back whenever he can.

Dr. Froiland Also Volunteers in the Local Community

While Dr. Froiland leads a very busy life, he tries to explore volunteer opportunities whenever he can. In Minnesota, Colorado, Michigan, Texas, Illinois, and Indiana, he has worked with numerous religious organizations to provide positive psychology and social resources to communities that usually have less access to care. He has also invested a great deal of time training volunteers on basic skills that they can use to help people in the local community.

He is also a passionate advocate for human rights. He helped fund projects that provide food and shelter to people who are homeless while also supporting programs that seek to end human trafficking. He remains vigilant for programs that could use his skills, and he tries to work with his fellow professionals to encourage more advocacy whenever he can. He is dedicated to helping others thrive, both as a professional and a volunteer.
